Amanda Brugel

Pointe Claire resides in a quiet area of Montreal Island, which is known as West Island. This part of Montreal is known as the West Island has a lot of different communities. For those who haven't known about it may mistake it for a separate, west-facing island. Amanda Brugel's hometown is often mentioned, but her brief time in the city wasn't. Brugel was raised in Courtice near Oshawa Ontario. Her first ambition was to be an expert dancer. However, a growth spurt caused her to outgrow all of the dance partners she had. In an article published by The Toronto Star that she is 6'1" tall when wearing heels. Once I was bigger than any male partner and stopped dancing, I quit. Many former dancers turn to acting and in Brugel's situation, it was a suggestion from the drama instructor at her high school that led her in the right direction. The teacher encouraged her to audition for a part in the school's production. The teacher who suggested that she go after a role in the school's annual show. This led to a Fine Arts Talent Scholarship at York University where she attended the Theater Program which she graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in 2000. Over the last 20 years, Brugel's work been seen on the small and large screen. She gained the most recognition when she landed her character of Rita in the award-winning television show The Handmaid's Tale. Brugel was the sole Canadian of the season 1 The Handmaid's Tale cast and only seen occasionally was the sole Canadian.
